kitchen reorganized

After Christmas, I {we} had an urge to freshen things up. I’m sure part of it for me is that little thing called ‘nesting’, but it really is not that uncommon for us to move things around. Our friends joke that when they come to our house things are always different. There is much truth to that.

I have a good list of tasks around the house and one big one was taking everything off the kitchen shelves, dusting, and rearranging.

Here are a few befores:

And after:

It feels fresh and clean and a little fluffier for valentines day.

You know what I also did? Cleaned my pot rack that hasn’t been dusted in at least a year. It was fuzzy with dust and has been bothering me for a long, long time. Finally, task accomplished.

Lots more moving and rearranging to take place in the next few weeks … updates to come.

  4. Hi, Emily! So glad you came over to my blog (thanks!) so that I could discover yours! I just spend a bunch of time reading through your past posts...love your work!

Wow, your kitchen is gorgeous! I would be completely scared to do the open shelf concept, but you are rocking it! I stink at dusting;)

So exciting that you are expecting a little girl! Congrats! Saw your initial inspiration boards and color palette for the nursery...love the combo of soft grays and whites and blues. I'm like you, its hard to commit to color for me. But I definitely say you should go with some of SarahJane's illustrations, they are super adorable:)

Hi Emily, I found you through Tracy's blog, your kitchen is absolutely amazing...I love all the open shelving, your decor is fabulous and so put together, I love the wreath over your window and the faucet...all of it is just perfect! Great job...makes me want to rip my door off my cabinets and go for the open shelf look!

  9. Christi: I made the wreath with a styrofoam wreath form and book pages. It was easy, but time-consuming ... but SO worth it. I do love it.

  10. I just found you via Blondie. :) Your kitchen and all its shelved glory is most divine! Makes me itch to shake up my shelves...And I made the infamous "book wreath", too. I'm in amor with it, still.
